Our Story

The Kiona Benton Cemetery Association (Evergreen) holds a significant place in Benton City, with its history dating back to 1912. The cemetery is home to some of the oldest residents in the area, including individuals who were moved to Benton City from other locations. Some of these individuals even predate Washington's statehood, adding a layer of historical depth to the cemetery.

Throughout its long existence, the cemetery has largely relied on a volunteer workforce, with the exception of those who are compensated for tasks like mowing, burial services, and setting headstones. This volunteer-driven effort speaks to the strong community spirit and the importance of the cemetery in preserving the local history.
